IN OUR HANDS, Melissa Jolly Ceramics

For Makers & Craftspeople

Client Story: Melissa Jolly — Ceramicist

I love to work with people who create with their hands. Makers who understand that the process is just as vital as the finished piece. Time, physical energy, repetition and intention all leave their imprint on the work. As an artist myself, I approach every collaboration with this shared understanding, taking time to uncover the layers beneath the surface: concept, design, labour and the lived experience that shapes each piece. From considered storytelling and portraiture to a carefully crafted book, my work is about translating process into something tangible. Something that can be seen, felt, and returned to.

Melissa Jolly is a ceramicist with a background in garden design, and her practice carries the quiet intelligence of that lineage. Her deep connection to the natural environment from the soil, form and seasonal rhythm informing both her materials and her methods. As she enters a new phase of her practice, expanding into teaching workshops, we created a stunning series across two sessions that reflects the depth of her experience and the generosity of her approach.

The resulting body of work amplifies not only Melissa’s finished ceramics, but the knowledge, patience, and care that underpin them offering a visual language that supports her growth as both maker and teacher.

If your practice is rooted in making, process and intention, I offer a collaborative space to translate that into something tangible.
