52 weeks, 365 days. Wow where did it go? Just over a year ago I was invited to start contributing to a wonderful project called Wish You Were Here in a Year. It’s a weekly glimpse into the life of a group of photographers who are dotted across the globe. There is no prompt, agenda or plan – it is simply to document in our own individual ways a sense of place, a feeling or simply a passing moment which is important to us. The synchronicity of some weeks is breathtaking, the images stunning and as a project in it’s own living and breathing right I love it as a place to come together with such great ladies living separate lives but sharing as a whole as we go. On to 2017… I simply can’t wait.

Here’s a little recap from where I left off in Part One. There is our final glimpse of the Indian ocean, to a glorious summer in Mallorca and then moving ‘home’ to Dubai. What a year. A crazy, wonderful year. My Wish You Were Here in a Year Part II.

Winter months in the Middle East are the loveliest of them all, precious months which make summers here a little more palatable. When the sun shines, the air is clear, the breeze is blissful, and some days it’s even windy enough to fly kites. And that’s just what we did a few weekends ago. Out in the desert, with only a few distant camels for company, the three of us and a couple of kites. Family times. What better moments that matter for this month’s blog circle? { don’t forget to scroll down and link through to the next wonderful artist for this month celebrating some of their own moments as our year comes to an end, here’s to 2017, may it be incredible for all }

    We have been flying kites lately, but I am rather envious of this desert setting. So much so I just shared these images with my family because I was damn jealous. Stunning setting, stunning moments captured. <3ReplyCancel

Learning to dance without inhibition, to love with all your heart and to feel the light around you are big grown up things to do but there are times, my sweet boy, when I know they are ingrained right to the tips of your toes. It’s something I deeply admire and hope you stay that way forever.

May the light be with you always.

As I continue on my personal photographic journey through Motherhood and life I am honoured to be a part of the wonderful Moments that Matter blog circle, follow the links to enjoy some fabulous work. Starting with the brilliant Sam Mothersole in New Zealand.

‘In the beginning of my Mommy journey I could only just bear breastfeeding as it was so incredibly painful. I pushed through however and have come to love it so, so much. Almost seven months on I still stare at Eva whilst she feeds, I want to remember this bond and this time forever. Chloe has enabled me to do just that – she’s captured the essence of our bond and the special moments of our breast feeding journey. These are images I’ll treasure forever, thank you Chloe.’

As soon as Liz and I started talking about a session her Mumma-heart had been yearning for I was over-joyed that I could help. As a Mum myself I remember these early days of feeding and bonding, and how fleeting and unbelievably special they were. We all know it’s definitely not always this beautiful or this ‘easy’ in fact it can be blooming hard, both emotionally and physically. But for the most part, even during the more challenging, paddle like mad days, there is a raw, natural wonderment to feeding another human-being from your own body. I would like to thank Liz from the bottom of my Mummy and artist’s heart for inviting me into her and Eva’s bonding time and in the same moment for allowing me to share a selection of the images so others can enjoy and relate to this brief but amazing time in Motherhood xxx

Liz is an extremely talented wedding and lifestyle photographer here in Dubai, take a peek at her work too. Liz JVR Photography
